The development of this one-of-a-kind resort, Praia de Ouro Sul, meaning "beach south of the point of gold" since the name of the neighboring village, Ponta do Ouro, means "point of gold", has started late 2004.

This secluded, private lodge is situated on the first row of forested dunes in an indigenous coastal forest. Tropical beaches, white sands, hot island weather and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean form an unforgettable picture.

Praia de Ouro Sul is, in the true sense of the word, an eco-friendly development. Developed according to the strict environmental requirements of the Government of Mozambique, visitors to Praia de Ouro Sul will notice that there are no tarred or paved driveways here, no paving and no alien shrubs. Four by four vehicles are the required mode of transport on the resort. For visitors without four by four vehicles, transfers from and to the border post can be arranged.

The resort and the development thereof in a dense, coastal forest form a perfect match with the unspoilt nature in which it is situated.

Praia de Ouro Sul is situated in the south of Mozambique, five minutes drive from the tranquil village of Ponta do Ouro and approximately half an hour's drive from the Kosi Bay border post, less than 500 km north of Durban and 700 km from Johannesburg. The development is being done by Kulani Safaris and mainly comprises nineteen executive logwood houses, twenty luxury, permanent tents and a main complex, comprising of the reception area, a restaurant, bar, entertainment area and offices.

Permanent tents: (Sleeps up to 4 people)
The permanent tents accommodate four people in an open area. Two three-quarter beds and one bunker bed for two children with bedding is supplied. Tea and coffee making facilities, a kettle, a refrigerator and towels in the en suite bathroom area, consisting of a shower, basin and toilet, are supplied.

No braais (barbeques) are allowed at the tents. A boma with thatched roof, basin, electricity and a large braai area is available for braais and cooking. The restaurant serves brunch and dinner daily.
